10 Breast Cancer Awareness Events Happening This Month In Broward County

October officially marks the beginning of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which gives us the opportunity show our support and join the fight against breast cancer. 

During the month, multiple local businesses throughout Broward County will put on events and offer specials to help raise funds for breast cancer research. Here are 10 events to attend, while sporting your favorite pink outfit.

“Pink” and White Cookie Fundraiser

Snack on some freshly baked “pink” and white cookies this month at Doris Italian Market and Bakery. During the month of October, the bakery will be putting a “pink” twist on one of its popular sweet treats. Its large homemade black and white cookies will be specially decorated with pink and white icing to raise awareness for breast cancer. For each cookie sold during October, $1 will be donated to the American Cancer Society. Visit any one of its five locations throughout South Florida, to take a bite out of the cause.

Glam-A-THON Décor for the Cure

Enjoy an evening of home décor shopping while raising money to fight breast cancer at the Décor for the Cure event at Allied Kitchen and Bath hosted by Glam-A-THON on Oct. 4 at 6 p.m. The evening will be highlighted by light bites, music and wine. Guests will also have the opportunity take part in the raffle and silent auction for a chance to win items that will be on display. Proceeds from the event supports the important breast cancer research done at the Broward Health Foundation. THRIVE Pink with Bill & Giuliana Rancic

Celebrate life and promote breast cancer research during the THRIVE Pink event at the W Fort Lauderdale on Oct. 6, featuring keynote speakers Bill and Giuliana Rancic. The Rancic’s have faced their fair share of struggles surrounding breast cancer after Giuliana was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011 and eventually went through a double mastectomy surgery. They will be speaking on their shared experiences with breast cancer during their keynote speech at 6:30 p.m., following the meet and greet cocktail reception at 5 p.m. available to VIP ticket holders. Pink Ribbon Fundraiser and Spa Special

Relax and feel rejuvenated during the Sparkling Pink Ribbon Toast hosted by Pure Nature Holistic Skin & Health Care on Oct. 11 at 6 p.m. The day spa, which places a significant emphasis on giving back to organizations that benefit the planet, aims to raise awareness for breast cancer and raise funds to be donated to the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation. Also during the entire month of October, women affected by breast cancer will receive a complimentary organic vegan facial. Get Your Pink On Cooking Class

Fire up the grill and break out your skillet for the Get Your Pink On cooking class at Brimstone Woodfire Grill on Oct. 11 at 6:30 p.m. Join Brimstone's head chef, Julio Martinez, and learn how to make a healthy three-course meal in collaboration with Baptist Health. The menu for the evening will include the restaurant’s famous BRG kale and chicken salad, ratatouille lentil penne and a berry compote. Proceeds from the event will benefit breast cancer research as part of the Shoppes of Pembroke Pines' Get Your Pink On initiative. A certified nutritionist will also be on site to answer any questions guests may have about the ingredients. Second Annual Blue Martini Rock Your Rosé

Party in pink and sip on some glasses of refreshing rosé on Oct. 20 at Blue Martini Fort Lauderdale’s all-pink charity event. From 8 p.m. to 11 p.m., the Rock Your Rosé event will feature live music by the Entourage Band, rosé specials, pink drinks, raffle prizes and giveaways. For $10 to $25 for either general admission or a special VIP ticket, guests will receive bonus amenities upon arrival, like a welcome glass of whispering angel rosé, raffle tickets and much more. Yoga for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Stretch, unwind and raise awareness for breast cancer this month at the Yoga Nest Studio. Join yoga instructor Eliana Balk on Oct. 21 at 3 p.m. for an all-levels yoga class celebrating local breast cancer survivors. Balk specializes in gentle and therapeutic yoga as well as yoga for cancer survivors and patients. This donation based class is available for anyone to take and enjoy, but will also be made especially accessible to those who have recently undergone breast cancer surgery or treatment. American Social Shop to Fight Breast Cancer

Mix and mingle while shopping for a great cause on Oct. 24 at 6:30 p.m. at American Social. The restaurant will feature a pop-up shop with items from the Kendra Scott jewelry line. All guests will enjoy one free drink, light bites and half-off bottles of wine all night long, donated by American Social. Twenty percent of all sales will be donated to the Women's Breast & Heart Initiative. WBHI's mission is to save lives by providing at-risk women with the prevention and early detection necessary to fight breast cancer and heart disease.

Making Strides Breast Cancer Awareness Walk

Join survivors and supporters alike on Oct. 27 for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk. The goal of this noncompetitive 3- to 5-mile walk is to raise awareness and funds that will benefit the American Cancer Society, and ultimately bring people together to make a difference for everyone who has been touched by breast cancer. Registration begins at 7 a.m. and the walk begins at 8:30 a.m.

Second Annual Conqueror's in Pink Charity Fashion Show

Dress to impress and get ready to watch cancer survivors strut their stuff on the runway at the second annual Conqueror’s Charity Fashion Show on Oct. 27, starting at 6 p.m. Styles by Stevie G. has collaborated with several designers including Tyni Kidz Couture and will showcase their created works on the runway for women that are fighting or have survived breast cancer.
